LOCUS: V

a digital exhibition

LOCUS is an exhibition series that curates interdisciplinary work from emerging artists, and seeks to create a conversation between mediums. Literary and visual artists are paired together, and asked to create work in conversation with each other's pieces based solely on the work itself, without learning the title or meeting the other artist until the day the exhibit goes live.

During this particular iteration of the LOCUS series (the first of which to be move online due to the pandemic), I was asked to create a poem in response to Julia M. Koreman's "Following Benford." The work I created, "home is a zoo or a pet store or both", is a snapshot of my emotional and creative struggle as a twenty-something living in their childhood home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It wasn't until the exhibit day that I learned that the piece itself was actually about math. Who woulda thunk!
